Not as soft as I imagined from reading the product description. I gave it a wash when I received it, but it still makes crinkly noises like it has never been washed. I do like the large buttons and opening where you slip the comforter in. It makes it very easy to change out the comforter. The large buttons that secure it are great because they don't slip out of the hole like other duvets do.
